Admission The library of the city and the canton of Zug is open to everybody who lives in the region of Zug or works in the canton of Zug. The library has to be notified without delay of any change of address. Borrower's card Registration can be effected at any time. Applicants are issued a free borrower's card on presenting an official identification paper. In the event of loss of the card, the library must be notified without delay, so as to prevent any misuse. The borrower is responsible for any damage resulting from the loss of the card. Replacement of lost cards will cost Fr. 10.--. Loan The loan of books and other media is free of charge upon presentation your borrower's card. You may borrow up to 15 items simultaneously: 10 books, 5 audio books, 5 maps, 5 videos, 5 music-CDs, 5 CD-ROMs and 5 DVDs. Loan period The loan period is 4 weeks. Renewal Seven days before expiration the loan period can be renewed twice for another 4 weeks. Renewals are not possible for documents that are reserved. If an item is reserved by another user during your renewal period, the renewal may be cancelled. Renewals can be made either online by phone or in writing, giving your card number. Reminder If your term expires and you have not returned the books, you will be reminded as follows - reminder charges: 1st reminder: Fr. 2.-- 2nd reminder: + Fr. 5.-- (10 days after the date due to return). 3rd reminder: + Fr. 10.-- (20 days after the date due to return). After 3 unsuccessful reminders and a dunning letter (Fr. 5.--) legal steps may be taken. Reservation Documents that are currently lent out can be reserved for a fee of Fr. 2.--. Liability You will have to pay for any damaged or lost item at their purchase value. In your own interest, we request that you point out any already existing damages an item may have at the time you check it out. Damaged documents must not be repaired by the borrower.
